Della Francesca Whippet
A woven portrait of a Whippet. This series of cats and dogs will bring a smile to all of us.
 
A new design based on a traditional Flemish theme. The Whippet  portrait is made in the style of Piero Della Francesca the 15th.C Italian painter, well known for his sideview portraits of both women and men.
 
Jacquard weaving creates the design using intricate weaving techniques, so the design is part of the fabric, rather than being printed or embroidered onto a backing fabric.
 
These are genuine jacquard tapestries made into 45cm X 45cm cushion covers. Jacquard is a 200 year old weaving technique with the picture reproduced in woven yarn. The depth of colour and the feel of the material make them stand out from the many fakes (e.g Jacquard prints, Jacquard pictures etc.) that clutter the internet.
 
Made in the Flanders region of Belgium they are produced in a small factory using the Jacquard weaving process (originally using punched cards - an early form of computer control) to produce intricate designs on a weaving loom. Flanders is famous for these type of tapestry fabrics with a lot of the industry originally centred around Bruges.
 
Although mainly woven in cotton the addition of some synthetic yarn creates strength and adds vibrancy to some of the colours.
 
Made from 85% cotton these Belgian produced cushion covers have a natural look and feel, superior to the Chinese and printed alternatives. Buy the genuine article, one that will last for years to come and might even become a family heirloom.
 
You can tell genuine intricate patterned jacquard material by looking on the reverse to see the reversed woven pattern. (Some sample pics are included).
 
The cushion covers have a plain cotton material on the reverse and a 90% zipper allows the cushion insert to easily fit. (Cushion insert not provided.)
